Confirm this cause by entering the BIOS (F2 at startup) and navigating to the Battery Information or Main tab. If the AC adapter wattage is displayed as 'Unknown' or 'None', the motherboard is intentionally disabling battery charging to prevent potential damage from an incompatible or faulty power source.
