Inspect the rubber mounting sleeves between the carburetor bodies and the intake manifold for visible cracks or hardening. Confirm a leak by spraying a small amount of starting fluid or water around the mounting points while the engine is idling; a noticeable change in engine RPM indicates air is being drawn into the system through the seal.
