A significant delay during the Windows boot process can be caused by the physical limitations of the storage media or insufficient free space on the system drive. Systems running on older Hard Disk Drives (HDD) often experience much slower read/write speeds compared to modern Solid State Drives (SSD), resulting in extended load times for the operating system and background services. Furthermore, if the system drive is nearly full, Windows lacks the necessary space to manage temporary swap files and cache data efficiently, which can severely degrade performance during the startup phase.
