Crank Arm Gap Due to Rounded Internal Taper

Remove the crank arm bolt to inspect the square taper interface inside the crank arm. If the square hole appears rounded, deformed, or worn, the material has likely been compromised by riding while the bolt was loose. This physical deformation prevents the arm from seating securely on the spindle regardless of tightening.
