The bike light may fail to illuminate if the power button mechanism has suffered a mechanical failure. This occurs when the rubber membrane covering the switch becomes worn, torn, or stiff, preventing the internal contact from engaging. Additionally, oxidation or the accumulation of debris within the switch housing can create an insulating layer, preventing the electrical signal from reaching the internal circuitry even when the button is pressed firmly.
