To verify if the starter motor is the cause of a no-crank condition, inspect the starter signal wire for voltage while an assistant turns the ignition key. If the signal wire receives 12 volts but the starter solenoid fails to engage or the starter motor does not rotate the engine flywheel, the starter assembly is confirmed to be faulty.
