A faulty or worn-out light switch can trigger a circuit breaker the moment it is toggled to the 'on' position. Over time, the internal contact points within the switch can degrade, become loose, or accumulate carbon buildup, leading to an electrical arc or a direct short circuit when the switch completes the electrical path. If you notice the breaker trips specifically at the moment the switch is engaged, the switch mechanism itself may have failed internally.
