Neck Pain Due to Mechanical Muscle Strain

This is the most common cause, often resulting from poor ergonomics or 'tech neck.' It is confirmed by a physical examination where the provider applies pressure to the cervical musculature to detect specific trigger points, muscle spasms, or tightness. Lack of neurological deficits (normal reflexes and muscle strength) during the Spurling test helps distinguish this from nerve compression.
