Shower Drain Clog Due to Hair and Soap Scum Buildup

This is the most common cause of recurring clogs. Hair creates a mesh net that captures soap, conditioner, and body oils, forming a persistent, sticky mass inside the P-trap or the drain pipe immediately following it. To confirm, remove the shower drain cover and use a flashlight to inspect the throat of the drain. The presence of a visible, dense, slimy mass of matted hair and residue confirms this cause.
