To verify if the battery is the cause, check the voltage using a digital multimeter. Ensure the headlights are turned off. Connect the leads to the battery terminals; a healthy battery should read approximately 12.6 volts when the engine is off. If the reading is below 12.2 volts, the battery lacks sufficient charge to engage the starter motor.
