CNC Skipping Steps Due to Mechanical Binding or Resistance

Mechanical resistance is the most common cause of skipped steps, where debris, lack of lubrication, or physical obstructions prevent the motor from completing its intended rotation. Confirm this by manually moving each axis through its full range of motion while the power is off; the movement should be smooth and consistent without hard spots, catches, or excessive drag. Additionally, inspect linear rails and lead screws for packed chips, debris, or dried lubricant buildup that increases the force required to move the gantry.
