To diagnose a malfunctioning Oil Control Valve (OCV) on Bank 2, a technician must first access the solenoid located on the cylinder head. Using a multimeter, check the solenoid's electrical resistance against manufacturer specifications. Additionally, verify if the OCV plunger moves freely or is stuck in a fixed position due to sludge or mechanical binding. A scan tool can be used to monitor the duty cycle commanded by the ECM versus the physical response of the camshaft to determine if the valve is failing to regulate oil flow as requested.
