Bilge Pump Failure Due to Float Switch Malfunction

Why MOST Bilge Pumps FAIL!

A float switch failure is indicated when the pump operates normally via the manual helm switch but fails to activate when water rises. Confirm this by manually lifting the float switch arm. If the pump does not activate upon lifting, the switch is either disconnected, internally failed, or jammed by corrosion and debris, preventing it from closing the electrical circuit.
