Replace the Microwave Light Bulb

Safety Warning: Before performing any work, ensure the microwave is unplugged. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can retain a lethal electrical charge; do not open the main casing. Only access the bulb compartment via the designated cover.

Tools Required: Replacement bulb (exact wattage and type as specified in your owner’s manual), screwdriver.

  1. Locate the light bulb cover, typically found behind a vent grille or secured by a single screw on the exterior or interior of the unit.
  2. Remove the screw and carefully detach the cover to expose the burnt-out bulb.
  3. Unscrew the old bulb from its socket by turning it counter-clockwise.
  4. Install the new bulb by screwing it into the socket clockwise until firm. Ensure you use the exact wattage and type specified by the manufacturer, as using an incompatible bulb (such as an unapproved LED) may cause damage.
  5. Reattach the light bulb cover and secure it with the screw.
  6. Plug the microwave back into the power outlet and test the light by opening the door or activating the light feature to verify the repair.
