Replace the Timing Chain and Hydraulic Tensioner Assembly

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the engine timing cover to access the timing assembly. 2. Rotate the crankshaft to the manufacturer-specified top dead center (TDC) position and lock the camshafts using the appropriate alignment tool. 3. Remove the old timing chain, guides, and the faulty hydraulic tensioner. 4. Install a complete timing chain kit, including the updated hydraulic tensioner, new chain guides, and a high-quality timing chain. 5. Verify that the timing marks are perfectly aligned with the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets. 6. Reinstall the timing cover using a new gasket and fresh sealant. 7. Perform a cold startup to verify the rattle has been eliminated and use an OBD-II scanner to clear any existing P0016 codes.
