1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the engine timing cover to access the timing assembly. 2. Rotate the crankshaft to the manufacturer-specified top dead center (TDC) position and lock the camshafts using the appropriate alignment tool. 3. Remove the old timing chain, guides, and the faulty hydraulic tensioner. 4. Install a complete timing chain kit, including the updated hydraulic tensioner, new chain guides, and a high-quality timing chain. 5. Verify that the timing marks are perfectly aligned with the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets. 6. Reinstall the timing cover using a new gasket and fresh sealant. 7. Perform a cold startup to verify the rattle has been eliminated and use an OBD-II scanner to clear any existing P0016 codes.
