Follow these steps to clear temporary memory congestion and reset your router's state machine:
- Unplug the power cable from both your modem and your router.
- Wait at least 60 seconds to ensure all internal capacitors are fully discharged and temporary memory is cleared.
- Plug the modem back into the power outlet first and wait 2–5 minutes for the indicator lights to stabilize, confirming a successful handshake with your ISP.
- Plug the router back into the power outlet and allow it 2–3 minutes to fully initialize.
- Verify the fix by checking that devices are no longer receiving a 169.254.x.x IP address and that internet connectivity has been restored.
