Perform a Full Power Cycle of Networking Hardware

Follow these steps to clear temporary memory congestion and reset your router's state machine:

1. Unplug the power cable from both your modem and your router.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds to ensure all internal capacitors are fully discharged and temporary memory is cleared.
3. Plug the modem back into the power outlet first and wait 2–5 minutes for the indicator lights to stabilize, confirming a successful handshake with your ISP.
4. Plug the router back into the power outlet and allow it 2–3 minutes to fully initialize.
5. Verify the fix by checking that devices are no longer receiving a 169.254.x.x IP address and that internet connectivity has been restored.
