Safety Precautions: Ensure the Denon AVR-X3100W is completely powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet before touching any wiring to prevent electrical shock or damage to the amplifier.
Tools Needed: Wire strippers or small needle-nose pliers.
- Inspect the back of the receiver where the speaker wires connect to the binding posts.
- Identify any stray copper strands that have splayed out from the twisted wire bundle and are touching adjacent terminals or the metal chassis.
- Use needle-nose pliers or your fingers to carefully pull any loose strands away from the metal contact points.
- If the wire ends are frayed or damaged, use wire strippers to cut off the damaged section and strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation to expose fresh, clean copper.
- Re-insert the wires into the binding posts, ensuring the positive and negative leads are securely held within their respective terminals without any protruding strands.
- Tighten the binding posts firmly to ensure a solid, isolated connection.
- Verify the fix by plugging the unit back in and powering it on; the red flashing light should no longer appear, indicating the protection mode has been disengaged.
