To restore electrical continuity in your dynamo lighting system, follow these steps:
- Safety First: Ensure the bike is stable and the wheel is stationary. Do not attempt repairs while riding.
- Disconnect: Carefully remove the electrical connectors from the dynamo hub and the light unit terminals.
- Trim and Strip: Use wire cutters to snip off the existing corroded or damaged ends of the wire. Use wire strippers to remove approximately 1cm of insulation from the fresh wire ends.
- Reconnect: Securely reattach the connectors to the terminals. If using a frame-grounded system, ensure the mounting bracket is free of rust and tightened firmly against the frame.
- Verify: Spin the wheel by hand at a steady pace. The light should illuminate. If it remains off, test the connection points with a multimeter for continuity.
Disclaimer: If you are uncomfortable working with bicycle electrical components, consult a professional mechanic to prevent short circuits or unsafe riding conditions.
