Repair or Replace Dynamo Wiring Connections

To restore electrical continuity in your dynamo lighting system, follow these steps:

  1. Safety First: Ensure the bike is stable and the wheel is stationary. Do not attempt repairs while riding.
  2. Disconnect: Carefully remove the electrical connectors from the dynamo hub and the light unit terminals.
  3. Trim and Strip: Use wire cutters to snip off the existing corroded or damaged ends of the wire. Use wire strippers to remove approximately 1cm of insulation from the fresh wire ends.
  4. Reconnect: Securely reattach the connectors to the terminals. If using a frame-grounded system, ensure the mounting bracket is free of rust and tightened firmly against the frame.
  5. Verify: Spin the wheel by hand at a steady pace. The light should illuminate. If it remains off, test the connection points with a multimeter for continuity.

Disclaimer: If you are uncomfortable working with bicycle electrical components, consult a professional mechanic to prevent short circuits or unsafe riding conditions.
