To resolve a physical connection fault, follow these steps to ensure the M.2 SSD is properly seated:
- Safety First: Power off the computer completely and disconnect the power cable. Discharge static electricity by touching a grounded metal object.
- Access the Slot: Open the computer case or laptop chassis to locate the M.2 slot. Remove any heatsinks covering the slot if present.
- Remove the Module: Unscrew the mounting screw at the end of the M.2 stick. Gently pull the SSD out of the slot at a 30-degree angle.
- Inspect and Clean: Verify there is no debris in the connector. If necessary, use a can of compressed air to clear the slot.
- Reseat the Drive: Slide the SSD back into the slot at a 30-degree angle, ensuring the pins are fully inserted. Push the drive down gently and secure it with the mounting screw until firm.
- Verify: Reconnect power, boot the system, and enter the BIOS/UEFI to confirm if the drive is now detected in the storage menu.
Tools Needed: Small Phillips-head screwdriver, compressed air (optional).
