Replace the Starter Solenoid

Safety Precautions: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting work to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Needed: Socket set, wrench, new starter solenoid, and safety glasses.

1. Locate the starter motor under the vehicle and remove the protective heat shield if present.
2. Disconnect the heavy gauge power cable and the smaller signal wire from the solenoid terminals.
3. Unbolt the starter motor from the engine block and remove it from the vehicle.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts holding the old solenoid to the starter motor housing.
5. Install the new solenoid and secure it with the mounting bolts.
6. Reinstall the starter motor into the vehicle and reconnect all electrical wires.
7. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and attempt to start the engine to verify proper operation.
