Repair and Clean Chassis Ground Connections

Safety Precaution: Disconnect the caravan from all shore power and isolate the leisure battery before beginning work to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Needed: Wrench set, medium-grit sandpaper or wire brush, dielectric grease, and a multimeter.

1. Locate the common chassis ground points, typically identified by white wires bolted directly to the caravan's metal frame.
2. Remove the mounting bolt or screw using the appropriate wrench.
3. Use sandpaper or a wire brush to remove all rust, paint, or corrosion from both the metal frame surface and the wire terminal lug until you reach bare, shiny metal.
4. Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the cleaned surface to prevent future oxidation.
5. Reattach the terminal lug to the chassis frame and tighten the bolt firmly to ensure a secure, high-conductivity connection.
6. Once reconnected, re-engage the battery power and verify the fix by checking that all lights function reliably without flickering or crosstalk.
