Replace the Faulty Ignition Coils and Spark Plugs

Safety Precautions: Ensure the engine is completely cool before starting. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, 10mm socket, spark plug socket, torque wrench, and new OEM-specification ignition coils and spark plugs.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove the engine cover to access the ignition coils located on top of the cylinder head.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty ignition coils (as confirmed by the swap test) and remove the 10mm retaining bolts.
3. Pull the ignition coils straight up and out of the spark plug wells.
4. Using a spark plug socket and extension, unscrew the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
5. Install the new spark plugs, tightening them to the manufacturer-specified torque setting to ensure a proper seal.
6. Insert the new ignition coils into the spark plug wells, press them firmly onto the plugs, and secure them with the 10mm bolts.
7. Reconnect the electrical wiring harnesses to each coil.
8. Reinstall the engine cover and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
9. Use the OBD-II scanner to clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Verify the Fix: Start the engine and allow it to idle. Perform a test drive to ensure the engine runs smoothly without hesitation. Re-scan the vehicle with the OBD-II tool to confirm that the P0301 and P0303 codes do not return.
