Safety Precautions: Ensure the motorcycle is powered off and the charging cable is disconnected from the wall outlet before beginning. Never use water or conductive metal tools to clean the port pins.
Required Tools: Non-conductive soft-bristled brush, electronic contact cleaner spray, and a flashlight.
- Inspect the charging port on the motorcycle and the plug on the charging cable for any signs of debris, oxidation (green or white crust), or bent pins.
- If debris or light oxidation is present, gently clean the port pins and cable connectors using a non-conductive soft-bristled brush.
- Apply a small amount of electronic contact cleaner to the pins and allow it to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- If a pin is found to be bent, use a small pair of needle-nose pliers to very carefully realign it to its original position; if the pin is broken or the plastic housing is melted from overheating, the charging port assembly must be replaced by a professional.
- Once clean and dry, reconnect the cable to the motorcycle, then plug the charger into the wall outlet.
- Verify the fix by observing the charger's LED status indicator; a successful connection should initiate the charging sequence, indicated by the appropriate charge-mode light.
