Tools Required: Wire stripper/crimping tool, replacement 2.8mm spade connectors, and electrical contact cleaner.
- Disconnect the power leads from the rear of the Toplight 2C housing.
- Inspect the spade connectors for corrosion or mechanical looseness. If oxidized, clean the terminals using electrical contact cleaner and a small brush.
- If a connector is detached, broken, or fails to maintain a firm grip on the housing terminal, use a wire stripper to remove the damaged connector and a small portion of the cable insulation.
- Crimp a new, properly sized spade connector onto the wire end, ensuring a tight mechanical connection.
- Slide the spade connector firmly onto the taillight input terminal, ensuring it is seated completely to prevent future vibration-induced loosening.
- Test the connection by rotating the bicycle wheel to activate the dynamo; if the light remains intermittent, ensure the polarity matches the system requirements by swapping the positive and ground wires if necessary.
Safety Note: Ensure the bicycle is stabilized in a repair stand before performing electrical work to prevent accidental movement.
