Clear Obstructions from the Bosch Drain Pump

Safety Warning: Always unplug the washing machine from the power outlet and turn off the water supply before beginning this procedure.

Tools Required: A shallow pan or bowl, a towel, and a flashlight.

  1. Locate the service flap at the bottom front of the machine and open it.
  2. Place a shallow pan or bowl directly beneath the small emergency drain hose, remove the plug from the end of the hose, and allow all residual water to drain completely.
  3. Once drained, unscrew the pump filter cover by turning it counter-clockwise. Have a towel ready to catch any remaining water.
  4. Inspect the interior of the pump housing and the filter mesh for foreign objects such as coins, buttons, screws, or debris. Remove all identified obstructions.
  5. Reach into the pump chamber and manually rotate the impeller blades; ensure they spin freely without resistance or catching.
  6. Reinsert the filter, tighten the cover firmly by turning it clockwise, and replace the emergency drain hose plug.
  7. Plug the machine back in, turn on the water supply, and run a short rinse or drain cycle to verify that the grinding noise has ceased and the water pumps out effectively.
