Adjust Rear Drive Belt Tension

Tools Needed: Belt tension gauge, metric wrench set, torque wrench.

  1. Locate the rear axle adjusters on the swingarm.
  2. Loosen the rear axle nut and adjust the tension bolts until the belt deflection meets the 1.5–4 mm specification as defined in the service manual.
  3. Ensure the rear wheel is aligned by measuring the distance from the swingarm pivot to the axle center on both sides.
  4. Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque.
  5. Verify the fix by riding at the speed where the noise previously occurred; the squeak should be eliminated as the belt tracks correctly.
