Verify Mechanical Timing and Camshaft Gear Integrity

If oil-related and electrical issues have been ruled out, the mechanical timing components must be inspected to ensure the camshaft is physically synchronized with the crankshaft.

1. Access the timing cover on the Bank 2 side of the engine by removing the necessary engine accessories and covers.
2. Rotate the crankshaft manually to align the factory timing marks and verify that the timing chain has not skipped a tooth or stretched beyond service limits.
3. Inspect the AVCS intake camshaft sprocket for physical damage, debris, or signs of internal mechanical failure that would prevent it from responding to oil pressure commands.
4. Check the timing chain tensioner for proper extension and tension to ensure the chain is not loose, as slack can cause the camshaft to advance or retard erratically.
