Clean and Lubricate Front Brake Caliper Pins

Tools Needed: Metric hex key set, brake cleaner, high-temperature brake grease, shop rags.

  1. Remove the front brake caliper mounting bolts.
  2. Slide the caliper off the rotor; do not let it hang by the brake line.
  3. Remove the brake pads and clean the caliper housing with brake cleaner.
  4. Remove, clean, and lightly lubricate the caliper sliding pins with high-temperature brake grease.
  5. Reinstall the pads and caliper, ensuring the rotor is centered.
  6. Pump the brake lever several times to seat the pads before riding.
  7. Verify the fix by rotating the wheel to ensure it spins freely without a dragging sound.
