This is the most frequent cause of the receiver entering protection mode. Confirm this by disconnecting all speaker wires from the rear terminals and attempting to power on the unit. If the receiver remains powered on without the red LED flashing, the protection circuit was triggered by a short circuit in the speaker cables or terminals.
