Confirm contamination by removing the brake pads and inspecting the friction material and rotor surfaces. Presence of oil, grease, or a distinct shiny, smooth 'glaze' on the pads indicates that friction is compromised. Pads should be measured; if the combined thickness of the backing plate and material is 3mm or less, they are worn beyond service limits.
