Inspect the cat's mouth for visible signs of pathology, including gingivitis, oral ulcers, or abscesses. Confirm the diagnosis through a veterinary physical examination of the oral cavity and diagnostic imaging to identify resorptive lesions or toothaches that prevent the cat from chewing. This is the most common physical cause for sudden refusal to eat.
