Observe the cat's food consumption over a 24-hour period. Confirm the symptom by monitoring for a complete refusal to eat or a significant reduction in intake, while checking for accompanying signs such as lethargy, hiding, vomiting, diarrhea, or jaundice. If the cat has not ingested food for 24 hours, the condition is considered clinically significant.
