To confirm the solenoid is at fault, locate the starter motor and have an assistant attempt to start the vehicle while you listen for a distinct 'click' sound emanating from the starter area. If the click is absent, or if you measure 12 volts at the solenoid's trigger terminal while the key is turned but the motor does not engage, the internal solenoid contacts have failed.
