The most common cause for failure in electric ovens is a damaged bake or broil heating element. Visually inspect the element for cracks, blisters, or burn spots while the oven is cool. During operation, the element should glow bright red; if it does not glow or only glows partially, it is failing. To confirm, disconnect power and use an ohmmeter on the two terminals; a healthy element typically reads between 0.1 and 1.0 ohms.
