Replace the Faulty Oven Heating Element

Safety Precaution: Always disconnect the power supply to the oven by unplugging it or turning off the appropriate circuit breaker before beginning this repair.

Tools Needed: Screwdriver (typically Phillips or hex), work gloves, and a replacement heating element matching your specific oven model.

  1. Open the oven door and remove the oven racks to gain clear access to the interior back wall.
  2. Locate the screws securing the heating element to the back or side walls of the oven cavity.
  3. Carefully unscrew the mounting brackets. Gently pull the element forward into the oven cavity to expose the wires and terminal connectors attached to the back.
  4. Disconnect the wires from the terminals of the old element. Note the orientation of the wires to ensure correct installation of the new part.
  5. Connect the wires to the terminals of the new heating element.
  6. Slide the new element back into place, aligning the mounting brackets with the original screw holes.
  7. Secure the element using the original screws.
  8. Restore power to the oven and test by setting the oven to a bake cycle to verify that the new element glows bright red and reaches the desired temperature.
