Tools and Materials Needed: Replacement drive belt (compatible with Sony XO-D10S), isopropyl alcohol, microfiber cloth, and a small ribbon or string.
- Safety Precaution: Ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from the AC wall outlet before beginning.
- Access the Drive Mechanism: Remove the turntable rubber mat and lift the platter straight up off the center spindle to expose the motor pulley and inner rim.
- Remove the Old Belt: Remove any remnants of the old, degraded, or stretched belt from the motor pulley and the inner rim of the platter. Use a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean any sticky residue from these surfaces.
- Install the New Belt: Loop the new drive belt around the inner rim of the platter.
- Mount the Platter: Carefully lower the platter back onto the center spindle. While holding the platter slightly elevated or using a ribbon to guide the belt, stretch the belt through the access hole and loop it securely around the motor pulley.
- Verify the Fix: Ensure the belt is not twisted and sits squarely on the pulley. Rotate the platter manually clockwise several times to confirm the belt is tracking correctly and that the motor pulley spins in tandem with the platter.
