Tools Needed: Socket set, screwdriver, battery charger, new battery of the correct specification. Safety: Wear safety glasses and gloves; disconnect the negative terminal first.
- Turn off the ignition and remove the seat to access the battery.
- Disconnect the negative (black) terminal, then the positive (red) terminal.
- Remove any mounting straps or brackets.
- Lift out the old battery.
- Insert the new battery and secure it with the brackets.
- Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
- Apply a light coat of dielectric grease to terminals to prevent corrosion.
- Verify by turning the key to 'ON' and checking that dash lights are bright and the engine turns over.
