Clean and Restore Kettle Contact Points

Safety Warning: Ensure the kettle is unplugged from the wall outlet before beginning this process. Do not use water or liquid cleaners on the electrical connectors.

  1. Inspect the central circular connector (Strix controller) on the base unit and the corresponding contact rings on the underside of the kettle for signs of dust, debris, or dark oxidation.
  2. Use a dry, clean cotton bud or a soft lint-free cloth to gently wipe the metal contact surfaces to remove any loose debris or dust.
  3. If visible corrosion remains on the metal surfaces, use a small piece of fine-grit sandpaper to very lightly buff the contact rings. Do not over-sand; the goal is simply to expose clean, conductive metal.
  4. Wipe away any residual dust created by the sanding process with a clean, dry cloth.
  5. Place the kettle firmly and squarely back onto the base, plug the unit into the wall, and attempt to activate it to verify that power is successfully transmitting to the heating element.
