Follow these steps to clear the obstruction and restore proper filament flow:
- Safety Precaution: Use heat-resistant gloves when handling the nozzle, as it will be at high temperatures.
- Adjust Temperature: Set your hotend temperature to the filament manufacturer's recommended range (e.g., 200–210°C for PLA) to ensure the plastic is fully molten.
- Perform a Cold Pull: Heat the nozzle to printing temperature, insert cleaning filament or your current filament, and allow it to cool to approximately 90°C before pulling it sharply upward to extract debris from the internal nozzle chamber.
- Test Speed: Reduce your print speed settings to 40mm/s in your slicer software to prevent exceeding the hotend's volumetric melt capacity.
- Verify Fix: Initiate a test print; the extruder motor should no longer skip or click, and the drive gear should move the filament smoothly without jumping backward.
