Replace Worn Washing Machine Motor Carbon Brushes

Safety Warning: Always unplug the washing machine from the power source before starting this repair to prevent electric shock.

Tools Required: Screwdriver set, new matching carbon brushes, and a flashlight.

1. Access the motor: Remove the back or bottom panel of the washing machine to gain clear access to the motor housing.
2. Detach the motor: Loosen the mounting bolts and carefully disconnect the electrical harness leading to the motor. Slide the motor out of the machine.
3. Remove old brushes: Locate the brush housings on the sides of the motor. Unscrew or unclip the brush holders and pull out the old carbon brushes.
4. Install new brushes: Insert the new carbon brushes into the holders, ensuring they are oriented correctly and that the springs are seated securely to provide proper tension.
5. Reinstall the motor: Place the motor back into its original position, tighten the mounting bolts, and reconnect the electrical wiring harness.
6. Test the fix: Replace the machine's panels, plug the unit back in, and run a short spin-only cycle to confirm that the motor reaches the required speed without displaying the F6 error.
