Refrigerators that use a motor compressor can develop excessive noise for several reasons, most of which trace back to vibration. As the motor compressor pumps refrigerant, it naturally produces a low hum, but if its internal components wear out or its rubber mounting feet harden or deteriorate, the vibrations are no longer absorbed and instead transfer to the surrounding structure, amplifying the noise.
