Refrigerator Noisy Due to Loose Compressor Mountings

To check for loose compressor mountings, first unplug the refrigerator from its power source and carefully pull it away from the wall. Locate the compressor, typically at the bottom rear of the unit. Gently try to move the compressor by hand. If it wiggles excessively, or if the mounting bolts and rubber grommets appear deteriorated or loose, this could be the source of a vibrating or rattling noise. Inspect the condition of the rubber isolators and ensure all securing hardware is snug.
