Safety Precautions: Ensure the engine is cool, the ignition is off, and the battery is disconnected. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection to prevent exposure to high-pressure fuel.
Tools Required: DAF-compatible diagnostic tool (DAVIE XD or Jaltest), fuel system service tools, torque wrench, and new genuine DAF injector or pumping unit.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure according to the DAF workshop manual.
- Access the valve cover to expose the fuel injector and pumping unit assembly for the identified cylinder.
- Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty injector or pumping unit solenoid.
- Remove the high-pressure fuel lines and the securing bolts for the faulty component.
- Carefully extract the faulty injector or pumping unit, ensuring no debris enters the fuel gallery.
- Install the new component, ensuring all O-rings and seals are lubricated with clean engine oil and seated correctly.
- Tighten the securing bolts to the manufacturer-specified torque settings using a calibrated torque wrench.
- Reconnect the electrical harness and re-install the fuel lines, tightening to specification.
- Use the diagnostic tool to perform a component registration or calibration if required by the ECU software version.
- Clear all active and stored fault codes (P0269, P0270, P0271, or P0272) using the diagnostic tool.
- Start the engine, allow it to reach operating temperature, and perform a final Cylinder Balance Test to verify that the fuel correction values for the replaced cylinder have returned to the normal operating range.
