This remedy addresses noise caused by a faulty condenser fan motor.
Always unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet before beginning any repair work to prevent electrical shock.
Unplug the Refrigerator: Disconnect the refrigerator's power cord from the wall outlet.
Access the Rear Panel: Carefully pull the refrigerator away from the wall. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws securing the lower rear access panel and set the panel aside.
Locate the Fan Motor: Identify the condenser fan motor assembly, typically situated near the compressor at the bottom rear.
Disconnect Wiring: Carefully disconnect the electrical wires leading to the old fan motor. It's helpful to take a photo before disconnecting to ensure correct reassembly.
Remove Old Motor: Remove the screws or bolts that secure the old fan motor and its bracket to the refrigerator frame. Carefully detach the old motor and fan blade.
Install New Motor: Transfer the fan blade to the new motor if it's not included with the assembly. Mount the new condenser fan motor in place, securing all screws or bolts firmly.
Reconnect Wiring: Reconnect the electrical wires to the new fan motor, matching them to the original connections.
Replace Panel: Reattach the lower rear access panel and secure it with its screws.
Restore Power: Plug the refrigerator back into the electrical outlet.
Listen for the fan operation immediately after plugging in the refrigerator. The new fan should run smoothly without excessive noise, buzzing, chirping, or vibration. The condenser coils should feel cooler to the touch as air circulates efficiently.
